UAGC Virtual Winter Symposium

Featuring Dr. Dina Brulles

February 4, 2023

Session 1:  9:30 - 11:30 AM

Building and Supporting Inclusive Gifted Services

Inclusive gifted education and effective programming don't just happen.  They require proactively and purposefully designing services to meet the learning needs of a diverse population of students, along with building administrative support for implementation and sustainability.  Learn methods and approaches for integrating the needs of our diversely gifted learners into every aspect of school.  Focusing on enfranchising and empowering all gifted learners.  Dr. Brulles will share practical steps educators can take to build, support and maintain inclusive gifted practices and effective programs.

Session 2  12:30 - 2:30 PM

Grouping Strategies for Gifted Learners: The Teacher's Role

Grouping is a predominant method for serving gifted learners today.  Creating balanced classrooms is critical to success in the model.  However, placing students in together in classes is just the first step.  What happens after students are placed determines the effectiveness of the model.  Dr. Brulles will provide suggestions, tools, and methods gifted cluster teachers can use to guide gifted learners in the cluster classrooms.  Participants will learn how to manage flexible learning groups in a mixed ability class, plan for different levels of learners, and communicate progress with parents.
