Session 2  12:00 - 2:30 PM     Motivating Gifted/High Ability Learners

Session Descriptions:

Creativity in the Classroom  

  • Understanding creativity, concerns, strategies, and resources. 
  • Knowing why creativity is important and how to get successful outcomes
  • Encouraging children and teens to tap into their creativity and make it an integral part of their learning 

Motivating Gifted/High-Ability Learners

  • Learning what underlies motivation, with attention to such matters as effort, learning preferences, underachievement, procrastination, goal-setting, productivity, and more...
  • Understanding how to ignite students’ engagement with practical strategies and coping mechanisms for immediate application 
  • Encouraging and reinforcing motivation for optimal learning 

Both sessions will have interactive components. Attendees will be asked to participate by sharing ideas, asking questions, and responding to prompts. A list of suggested resources will be sent to participants.
