Mission Statement

Utah Association for Gifted Children advocates for the diverse population of gifted children in the State of Utah. We advance the understanding of the academic and social/emotional needs of gifted children among community leaders, policy makers, educators and parents. We promote the development of quality services to provide educational opportunities for gifted students. We increase the capacity of educators and parents to be agents of change in their schools and communities and in the lives of gifted children.

Membership benefits include an online newsletter published regularly reporting recent events and developments in the field of gifted education, an annual conference registration discount, a voice at the state capitol through a legislative liaison and updates on legislation affecting gifted education, an opportunity to join a UAGC affiliate in your local area, information about UAGC scholarships and awards, and an opportunity to participate on a UAGC Board Committee.

UAGC Family Events are sure to be valuable experiences for parents and students alike. They offer opportunities for families to meet, students to engage in higher level learning activities, and parents to share ideas. Mark your calendar for the next scheduled event, which will be held virtually on Friday, February 5, 2021. This event will feature Dr. Tamra Stambaugh, Ph.D from Vanderbilt University and is FREE.  Dr. Stambaugh will share strategies for advocating for your gifted child.

The UAGC 2021 Winter Symposium will be a virtual event featuring Dr. Tamra Stambaugh.  Registrants will attend sessions focusing on practical strategies for embedding depth and complexity into the curriculum.

Mark you calendars for June 15-17 for the 2021 UAGC Annual Conference which will feature Dr. Jim Delisle.  With more than three decades of workng in behalf of gifted learners, Dr. Delisle offers valuable insights and strategies for understanding gifted children.  His keynote sessions will focus on meeting the social/emotional needs of gifted learners.  Breakout sessions will feature state and local experts in gifted education.  This event is for administrators, teachers and parents!
