Gifted Kids Go to College
The panel discussion Gifted Kids Go to College during the Utah
Association for Gifted Children annual conference in January
addressed topics geared to college-oriented students, including:
* "programmatic approach" to college planning throughout
middle and high school years;
* understanding of college entry requirements;
* negotiating through numerous sources of information,
including local resources.
In addition to these complex issues, there are also specific
characteristics that may greatly affect "gifted" college
planning, for example multiple talents of your children or kids'
sensitivity to expectation of others around them.
To navigate successfully through these waters may be easier when
both you and your children understand the role played at schools
by guidance counselors.
For parents who are interested to learn more about AP, IB,
concurrent enrollment and middle school educational programs at
the Jordan School District or to gain more knowledge about
financial side of college planning,
Jordan Association for Gifted Children (JAGC)
invites you to meet
Chris Richards-Khong,
Secondary Guidance Specialist at the Jordan School District
and
Craig Haslip
Representative from UtahMentor, Utah's Premier Guide to Career
and College Planning
