The 4th Annual Defining Your Path Conference for 8th grade girls
is on Saturday October 20, 2007.  Registration materials are
attached and also available at  <http://www.youth.utah.edu/>
www.youth.utah.edu . The conference is restricted to 200 8th
grade girls and we have a limited number of scholarships
available.  Please take a minute to look in the Registration
Instructions at the wonderful line-up of speakers in many career
areas from technology, medicine, law, art and more! All for $10 -
and an adult session runs concurrently for $5! 

 

Last year 60% of the girls we served were on scholarship - many
from families where no one has attended college.  One 8th grader
was in tears - her parents had attended a session on financial
aid and told her that she could pursue her dream of attending
college.  They said, "NOW we can see a way!" 

 

Registration is due October 12, 2007.

 

I would appreciate your help in getting the word out.  Sessions
fill quickly.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Defining Your Path Conference for Girls

 

PURPOSE :: POTENTIAL :: PREPARATION :: PROGRESS

 

October 20, 2007, 8am-12:15pm

University of Utah, Orson Spencer Hall

 

GOAL:  To provide an opportunity for 8th grade girls to realize
their potentials 

             and to consider options for their futures

 

Saturday morning conference with two keynote speakers and two
breakout sessions

An adult component runs concurrently.  Cost is $10 with
scholarships available.

 

PURPOSE:                  Focus girls on identifying the path
they choose to take based on their 

POTENTIAL:                attitudes, interests, personality,
motivation and academic abilities 

PREPARATION:           by selecting appropriate courses of study,
classes, activities and supporters 

                                   such as a mentor, peer, and/or
counselor

PROGRESS:                to develop personal growth and
accomplishments along their chosen path.
